Get started with your Ledger hardware wallet the right way. Follow the official guide at Ledger.com/Start® to initialize, verify, and secure your device before managing your digital assets.
Start SetupWelcome to Ledger.com/Start® — the trusted source for setting up your Ledger Nano X, Nano S Plus, or Stax. Ledger devices are designed to keep your private keys safe from hackers and online threats, giving you full control of your crypto portfolio.
Begin by connecting your Ledger device to your computer or smartphone using the official cable. Once connected, open your browser and go directly to Ledger.com/Start. Never follow links from emails or social media posts, as these may lead to phishing websites.
On the start page, you’ll be guided to install Ledger Live — the official app that allows you to set up your wallet, install crypto apps, and manage your assets securely. The installation is quick and ensures your firmware is always up to date.
During setup, your Ledger device will generate a recovery phrase — 24 random words that act as the backup key to your wallet. Write these words down and keep them offline in a safe place. Never store them digitally or share them with anyone. If someone gains access to your recovery phrase, they can access your funds.
Once your recovery phrase is safely stored, Ledger Live will walk you through verifying your device’s authenticity. You’ll then be able to install applications for different cryptocurrencies, send and receive funds, and monitor your balance—all from a single, secure dashboard.
Ledger devices use a Secure Element Chip, certified and tested for cryptographic protection. This ensures that even if your connected computer is compromised, your private keys remain safe and inaccessible.
